SYMONE SANZ

Symone holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, from which she received the Moving Forward Grant in 2020. She is an experienced artist in performance, improvisation, and choreography and is interested in dance through the lenses of anthropology and geography. She has previously enjoyed working with artists Jennifer Monson, James Vu Anh Pham, and Lauren Langlois, among many others. 

 

She spent several months in Perth, Western Australia dancing at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). She was the recipient of the Friends of the Academy Grant from WAAPA, which allowed her the opportunity to second with Sydney Dance Company in 2019. Her work, including her most recent dance film, a photo of a flood, was selected for the Illini Film Festival. Symone also enjoys directing, editing, and photographing dance in her spare time.
